last summer i had the pleasure of taking schae’s senior portraits. her fiery red hair and matching, spunky personality filled my afternoon with fun, sassiness and laughter! i thoroughly enjoyed her session — the combination of the work accomplished and learning about why she loved the places we shot — it just made for a perfect afternoon. and, the sun even cooperated and stayed behind some cloud cover, so we weren’t constantly battling harsh sunlight! yay for the weather!
she chose the shockoe bottom area because she had lived close by as a child and always felt like it was home. i was excited about the area too, as i knew there were a bunch of neat murals and other interesting backdrops all around. i feel like this session was a milestone for me and my work. i realized that i felt really good working with young women, bringing out their confidence and inner strength…. though, i don’t think schae needed any help with that! also, i was inspired to work in the city/urban environments more.
i’m so excited for her next adventure as she heads off to christopher newport university! congrats schae and i hope you have a great first year!!
psst… i’m taking on class of 2015 now, if you need portraits yourself….
